Horses in Training Workshop - On the Gallops

Back in October Chris Fell organised, for the Cambridge Camera Club, a workshop led by Mark Pain.

Mark is a world renowned sports photographer and visited our Camera Club Monday Meeting where he shared a presentation of his fine sports photography.

Early next morning (like before sunrise) a group of seven of us met with Mark on Warren Hill in Newmarket. The plan was to take photos of the racehorses as they came out for their early morning training. We where met by someone from one of the stables who took us on to the gallops where the public are not allowed to go for obvious safety reasons. We then moved off to the cross roads at the Newmarket end of Warren Hill where there was a further opportunity to see and photograph the horses and riders.

Have a look at Mark Pains Web site here

After visiting two Stables we returned to the Gallops on Warren Hill late morning to see the end of the horses being trained. The jockeys each take out a number of horses from sunrise to late morning.

This blog show pictures from these two visits to Warren Hill. I will be blogging the two stables soon.

The day started off very dull and wet.
