Devon Holiday - Dartmoor National Park

We visited the Dartmoor National Park. As we drove over the Park we saw wild horses and a vast open landscape. We started of at Clapper Bridge. We then found a lovely area for a picnic (near YHA Dartmoor) and then had a cream tea at Powdermills Pottery.

We will try to return and stay in this area to explore the isolated areas and wildlife.

Devon Hoiliday - Wembury Beach

A trip to the seaside and a relaxing afternoon on the beach....

Wembury Beach is owned by the National Trust and to quote their web site ....

A great beach, and more: some of the best rock pools in the country, good surfing, masses of wildlife and views of the distinctive island - the Great Mewstone.
We started by having lunch at the Old Mill Cafe.

Guess what - we finished the day there with an ice cream :)

Devon Holiday - Donkey Sanctuary

We visited the Donkey Sanctuary at Sidmouth. Little did I know that I would fall in love with these animals and end up adopting a Mule called Ruby :)

Now you probably all know this already, but I did not....

A Donkey is a Donkey
A Horse is a Horse
A Mule is the offspring of a male donkey (jack) and a female horse (mare)
A Hinny is the offspring of a female donkey (jenny) and a male horse (stallion)

Most Mules and Hinnys are infertile.

I am still not sure but I think a donkey is a domesticated Ass.

My Adopted Mule, Ruby. Isn't she LOVELY ...
