Sunday Morning Walk on Aldreth Fen

Towards the end of last week when we heard that there was a possibility of snow this weekend, Sue and I planned to go out for a longish walk on Aldreth Fen, a short drive from our home. It is one of our favourite walks around our area.

You can imagine my disappointment yesterday the it looked like 'The Beast from the East' was not going to be here until late Sunday / Monday. Plus looking at the weather map the line of the yellow warning was around our area.

Mat and Emma down in Margate did wake up to a sprinkling this morning. Maybe it will come to us only time will tell.

Anyway, not to be done out of a walk we got up and went straight out, before breakfast too. I am pretty convinced that if we (I) had breakfast first my enthusiasm would have wained.

On the way back from the walk we popped into the village store and picked up freshly baked Croissants. Brunch at about 11:00 Croissants, Emmental Cheese, ham and Assam Tea - Perfect.

Calke Abbey - Abstract and Detail

The National Trust call this 'The Unstately Home'

I have decided to split this visit into three blogs.
  1. Calke Abbey - The Unstately home
  2. Calke Abbey - Below Stairs
  3. Calk Abbey - Abstract and detail (This Blog).
All pictures on the three blogs were taken with my iPhone XR. This has a fixed lens and most pictures are cropped as taken. They have then been processed as jpegs in Adobe Lightroom.

I became fascinated with the textures, detail and feel of the house.

I was impressed with the whole house but it was below stairs that I really became excited to see. It was a bit of controlled URBEX

Here we go Again

Here we go again It’s been a long time since we have done a jigsaw, probably just after two Christmases ago (ie Jan 2025). I decided to get ...
