Creative 52 - 03 Tell a Story

This is supposed to be a weekly project that last 1 year - This is number 3 and its taken me 'how many weeks'?

Challenge number 3 is Tell a story with a singe image.

Here are three stories .....

1. Walking

 2. (Not) Mean and moody.

The next three photos are of our 13 year old Grandson. We were down in Margate and I was on the beach taking photos and Haydn came down to see what I was doing. He had his hood up and I asked him to sit and 'look mean' for this tell a story project I had.

The straight photo really does not show a 'mean look at all' In fact a few seconds later he and I both burst into fits of laughter.

Back home I wondered if by changing it to a monochrome photo would increase the meanness?

Nope ...

I then tried to 'grunge it up' using some NIK filters in Photoshop. Interesting exercise!

Creative 52 - 01 Create an Image based on a single colour

Just before Christmas I purchased a book off Amazon called .....

Creative 52: Weekly Projects to Invigorate Your Photography Portfolio by Lindsay Adler. Its a very interesting book and I am going to try to follow each weekly project. The book is very much people / portraiture based but I am not restricting myself to this area of photography. I will probably not do each project she suggests, but we will have to see.

At the moment the first three weeks projects have taken me seven weeks - So I am not going to get this done in a year !!!! :)

I like little projects like this, it makes you think, and its fun. The first project was to create an image with a single colour.

Not very original but this was from my first pictures on the topic.

Water droplets

The next three pictures were of a beautiful Orchid my wife is groing. The Orchid is white, but I decided to add a red colour gel to my flash gun. I do not often use gels. The red was very dominant, maybe I will try another colour sometime. I decided to 'fiddle' with the photo in Photoshop. Hence the three versions.

Taken at my Birthday Party in January.

I really love textures and I was stuck by the way the light caught the surface of our bread board

The last two photos look again at water droplets and the 'single colour' although the second photo does show some subtle colour.

The next post on this project is ''Create a portrait without showing the face' .

Here we go Again

Here we go again It’s been a long time since we have done a jigsaw, probably just after two Christmases ago (ie Jan 2025). I decided to get ...
