Cambridge Half Marathon

Great day out on Sunday supporting daughter Frances and her friend competing in the Cambridge Half Marathon.

All procures taken with the Canon 5Dmkiv and Canon 100 - 400mm series ii lens. I set the camera to Manual  with shutter speed at 1/400th sec and f/6.3 with auto ISO. I hindsight I should have had the shutter speed higher.

Over 14000 participants. I took over 400 photos, many duplicates but managed to choose these as my favourites.  I am not a sports photographer but I do enjoy taking pictures of people enjoying theirselves.

Ely 10km

Last Sunday two of my daughters (Zoe and Fran) plus Andy (Fran's other half) took part in the Ely 10km. Sue and I went along to help with looking after the kids while the parents ran. I just took my new camera (Canon R - full frame mirrorless) and the 24-105mm lens just to take snaps of the event.

Fran had a broken toe and Andy had a 'poorly' calf muscle, but having said that they all did very well. I took a couple of photos at the start, Went with Jon, Sue and the Kids for a coffee, then walked bach to the finish line to see them come in.

Ely New Years Eve 10Km Road Race 2018

My Son-in-Law Andy entered his 3rd 10K race today in Ely. Another Son-in-law Jon was the Race Referee and Daughter Zoe was a Marshall. So I decided to go along and watch, and take photos of course.

The annual Ely New Years Eve 10K Road Race is held in Little Downham. 616 men and women took part.

You can see the results here

The race started at 11:00. Right from the start Number 162 Chris Darling from Cambridge and Coleridge AC took the lead and after 31mins 45sec he won.

First Girl was Daisy Glover from Framingham Flyers in 36 mins 53sec in position 15

Andy (number 684)  who had a target of sub 50mins achieved  49mins 54sec and came in at position 252. WELL DONE ANDY, I am proud of you.

Jon did an excellent job of Refereeing apart from the fact he kept shouting in my ear at the finish for the runners to keep moving :)
