In the Garden - August to October

My 'In the Garden Safari' Project slowed down over the summer just at the time when things tend to happen in the garden. Various reasons, not least of all the aborted Summer House construction which will now happen next spring. Sounds grand but its basically a posh shed in the bottom left hand corner of the garden.

So anyway - various visitors to the garden and some flowers.

This first Moth - I have not been able to identify. Maybe someone can let me know.

We saw this lovley tellow snail on our bright blue garden bucket while we were having lunch one day on the 'new court yard area' (Its the gravel area really but court yard sounds grand). The blue and the yellow always works for me.

In the Garden - July

Back in April I set myself a ongoing project to photograph our garden, Flowers and insects etc.

Here are a few images from July.

Large White Butterfly

Echinacea purpurea
As part of the new planting we have these wonderful flowers - Echinacea purpurea, bees and horse flies just love them.

Lacewing
The Lacewing was not actually in the garden - it was just inside the house on a window frame.

The next few photos were taken round our pond. They all show Dragonflies. They are a Hawker Dragonfly but I am not sure which possibly a Southern Hawker.

Dragonfly Nymph
We saw this nymph in the water of the pond.

In the Garden - April

I have photographed flowers and animals in the garden for many years but I was further inspired by a talk at the Cambridge Camera Club by Barrie and Liz Hatten entitled 'Safari to our Garden' which showed just what you can do 'at home'.  So my little project this year is to look at the changing garden over the summer and photograph it whilst trying to master the techniques of macro and close up photography. This should be a bit of a challenge as we are about to embark on a fairly large planting project.

So this is April.
