Blists Hill Victorian Town post #03

Post #03 on The Blists Hill Victorian Town. Many of the workshops where quite dark with sunlight coming into the windows and doors creating a high contrast situation. I decided to shoot HDR for these shots. The Canon 5D mkiii has a menu function that sets some of the multiple exposure settings for you. You still have to decide what exposure values and shooting conditions but this function does mean its easy to switch the camera over. I choose to retain the original exposures in RAW. The 5D produces a combined JPEG file which is useful.

The photos here where shot a high to very high ISO's. The RAW files where then processed in the NIK HDR plug-in for Lightroom. It was only after I had produced all these images (except one) that I though that as I was shooting High ISO that I should have done the noise reduction on the individual images before the export to HDR. A quick email to Ian Wilson (out Digital Techniques Guru) confirmed that this is what I should have done. Hay Ho we learn something new each day :)

Blists Hill Victorian Town post #02

Post #02 from Blists Hill Victorian Town. This post shows some of the great people that work and volunteer to be at this living museum. There is also a couple of visitors I captured. We were fortunate that it was also a Steam Weekend.

Blists Hill Victorian Town post #01

We stayed over night in the Telford International. The next morning after breakfast (Bank Holiday Sunday). We (The Cambridge Camera Club, Out and About Group) visited Blists Hill Victorian Town. A delightful living museum. People in costume and demonstrating / sowing the skills of the time. We spent a whole day there and it was only tiredness and the imminent closing time forced us to leave. We arranged to meet up with a couple of Club Members that had moved to Shropshire around Christmas.

I have split this visit blog into three sections.
This one - #01, is about some of the shops and workshops we visited.
#02 will focus on some of the people there
#03 - a set of HDR photos.

You can see more about this wonderful living museum on their web site by clicking HERE :-

A very nice man unlocked the Pay Office so I could spend a few moments inside with my Camera.

The Typewriter here is an American one.
It has two sets of keys, one for lower case and one for upper case.

Here we go Again

Here we go again It’s been a long time since we have done a jigsaw, probably just after two Christmases ago (ie Jan 2025). I decided to get ...
