Grafton Centre ICM and ME

During the Cambridge Camera Club Visit to the Grafton Centre recently I had a play with in camera multiple exposure but with moving the camera just a bit between each frame. I seem to remember Doug Chinery calling this ME Burst Mode when I attended one of his excellent courses. Both Dark (the first four) and Bright Mode (the last two) used on my Canon EOS R mirrorless camera

Hampshire Holiday Post 09 - Frensham Little Pond Impressionistic Images

So after lunch I spend some time at the edge of the pond creating in-camera multiple exposures. Most images edited in Lightroom and then into Photoshop.

The first image shows the 'scene of the crime' :)

Impression of a Bluebell Wood

Impression of a Bluebell Wood

The weather stopped us getting to the bluebell woods last week and we knew it was getting late for them but we decided to go over the Lady's Wood Nature Reserve and see what they were like.

The bluebells had certainly 'gone over' but there was an impression of a blue carpet. I decided rather than take straight photos of the bluebells I would try some ICM techniques I had been thinking about.  I have been reading a book by Freeman Patterson and Andre Gallant called 'Photo Impressionism and the Subjective Image' dating from 2001.

They where using film cameras and building up multiple exposure similar to the 'Additive' mode on my Canon. They were shooting blind and working out the exposure compensation needed. They built up the ICM effects by taking the same camera position / movement for a few images and then adding another effect.

Certainly building on the knowledge I gained from Doug Chinnery and Velda Bailey on their courses last year.

The saying 'Every day in every way I get a little bit better' comes to mind.

Vase and Dying Flower Study

Spent a couple of hours just playing with a vase of dying flowers the other day and then taking just one design into photoshop to see what different colour combinations I could get. I was looking for the resulting image to be fundamentally based on  two main colours. I found four I like and ten popped them into a panel. The first five images here are the result. Not what you would call subtle colours.

I then started playing with some of the other images from the session with some pleasing results.

It’s funny how sometimes you set yourself a mini project in a single session and struggle to find an acceptable result and then other times, like this you find quite a few.

All images here started as in-camera multiple exposure (mostly in dark mode if I remember right) and then  work in Lightroom. All images then developed in multiple layers in Photoshop, including the blending of two or more images.

An Abstract View of the New Bar Hill A14 Bridge

Back in August the Camera Club had a trip to the new Bar Hill A14 Bridge. Thanks to Paul for organising it. It was a great opportunity. Paul had established with the people working on the bridge where exactly we could go. Great Fun. Here are a few snaps. All in-camera multiple exposure and then worked on in Lightroom and Photoshop.
