Post#83 Ely Photoshoot with Experience Seminars - (1) - General

A couple of Thursdays ago I attended a Photographic workshop on Interior Photography. This was run by Experience Seminars. The morning was spent 'in the classroom' talking about various tecniques involved in taking photographs inside buildings and in particular the problems associated with photographing in Churches and Cathedrals. As some of you are aware Cathedral Photography ia a particular project I am working on. In the past I have used a tripod and not used a tripod and was coming to the conclusion that I would continue with the project without the use of a tripod, and working at higher ISO settings. However the answer is as usual not that simple, 'one size does not fit all'. We disused both techniques and I leant something new and useful.

I did not anticipate any photos for the blog as this was effectively a training course. However in the afternoon we ventured into Ely Cathedral and where left to our own photographic interests. In the middle of the afternoon a trip up to the roof of the Octagon was arranged. I have never been  up there before and the paintings you can see from below are very big. In fact the proportions are not correct, they have very long legs so that when viewed from below in the church they appear to be correctly sized,

I have split these photos into 4 posts they are:-

Post#82 Ely Photo-shoot with Experience Seminars - (1) - General
Post#83 Ely Photo-shoot with Experience Seminars - (2) - Stained Glass
Post#84 Ely Photo-shoot with Experience Seminars - (3) - On the Octagon Roof
Post#83 Ely Photo-shoot with Experience Seminars - (4) - Monochrome

The paintings are very large and they can be opened and to allow people to see down into the church - can you see one of the seminar photographers and how small he is compared with the paintings.
