My Olympic Experience #04 - Athletics in the Olympic Stadium at the Olympic Park

Visit 4 - We got home at 12:45 from Diving and then got up again at 05:00 to catch the 06:30 train back to the Olympic Park. I thought I would catch a few zzzzz's on the train - no luck - standing room only :(

Was it Worth it - OH YES.

This was the event I was really looking forward to. It was a great day. There were two track events, hurdles as we arrived and then later on the 4 x 4oo meters men's relay. Team GB were in one of the heats - the noise in the stadium was incredible. We also so the Ladies High Jump and the part of the men's decathlon.

Our seats were near the Olympic Flame - this was really spectacular.

We saw these two remote controlled mini's and wondered what they were for. We soon found out  that they brought the thrown discus back to the start line, Now that what I call a good idea.

We got home middle evening and I had a good nights sleep. My Live Olympic Experience was over but there was still a few days left on the TV.

As most of my friends know I am not a sporty person. I enjoy live events and watch the world Championship Snooker in April, Wimbledon and I follow F1. This was a whole different experience. The sport was great but the people, volunteers and soldiers where amazing.

My Olympic Experience #03 - Diving at the Olympic Park

Diving on Wednesday 8th August. Diving was another evening event but we decided to go late morning like the previous occasion and enjoy the park life.

There were two large screen transiting live sport. 'Park Live West' and 'Park Live East' This next photo shows a view of both areas from the bridge

My Olympic Experience #02 - Hockey at the Olympic Park

Trip number two. Friday 3rd August. We travelled by Train to Kings Cross and had lunch at the Lamb in Holborn and then caught the underground to Stratford. We arrived early afternoon. To get to the Hockey Arena you had walk the whole length of the Olympic Park.

I knew the park was big but this exceeded my expectations. Lots of happy people.

The game was early evening and the pitch was quite wet

We had to leave slightly before the end so we did not miss our train back to Ely

My Olympic Experience #01 - Rowing at Eton Dorney

I was lucky enough to be able to go the Olympics four times. This was my first trip on Sunday 29th July - Rowing at Eton Dorney. We drove to Windsor Park and from there caught the park and ride to the venue. I was very impressed with the organisation and the friendly attitude of the volunteers and the Army.

My photographic objective for my whole experience was to try and capture the spirit of the games and the people attending and participating.

Ely Cathedral

Spent a couple of hours in Ely Cathedral on Friday afternoon. I went there to take photos of the central octagon area however the The Band Of Her Majesty's Royal Marines and The Military Wives Choir beat me to it :)

They where rehearsing for the evening concert so although I could not take the photos I had planned I did get a free experience their music – It was very good. It was only after I was leaving that I thought to myself that I should have asked someone if I could have taken photos of them.
