Pre Christmas Trip to Saariselka, Lapland in Finland - 2 Husky's and Reindeer

As part of the holiday package we were taken to nearby wood where we could experience Husky's and Reindeer. From Andy and Aiden also went on a Skidoo ride (no pictures here).

There is about 4 - 5 hours of daylight, however the sun at this time of year does not rise above the horizon.

The Husky's in Lapland are smaller than I thought they would be. Beautiful animals...

Snowball fight - as the snow was so dry it did not make good snowballs :(

'OK, I'm off now' .......

We were told that on of the reindeer we may see was Rudolph. As it was not Christmas Eve then his nose would not be red. But if you see a reindeer wink at you, particularly if you were a child, then this was the REAL Rudolph. You can imain, I am sure, how excited Aiden was when one of the reindeer winked at him. He refused to travel on any other sleigh. This is Rudolph ....

The local people are from the Sami Tribe. Here is a 'summer lodging' ....

This is a Sami Winter lodging ....
