Pre Christmas Trip to Saariselka, Lapland in Finland - 1 Arrival and first morning

Just before Christmas Sue, Frances (youngest Daughter), Andy her Partner and two grandchildren Aiden and Evelyn took a trip to Lapland in Finland, The Village (ski resort) was Saariselka and was 150km inside the Arctic Circle. We flew from Gatwick and landed in Invalo and from there we were driven by coach to Saariselka. The main purpose of the trip was to take the grandchildren (and Frances - OK and me) to see the real Santa. He had sent an Elf to meet us at the airport, a charming Elf called Tontoo (Probably not spelt correctly), she was going to be our guide for the 4 days we were going to be there. Our bus was called 'Figgy Pudding' :)

After booking into the hotel (we had a self catering apartment) we were issued with warm snow suits, gloves, socks and boots.

This blog is about the first evening and next morning.

A charming church

Fun o the slopes with toboggans

Off for  meal in one of the local pubs - Evelyn was fascinated by the lights of the gaming machine - no she did not play it.

Early next morning - views from the apartment window.

Off out - Fun and games in the snow
