Northumberland - Post #04 - The Farne Islands

Looking at the weeks weather forecast we decided to go to the Farne Islands on the Sunday, we had originally planned a Monday trip on the assumption that there may be less people on the Islands. As it turned out, going on the Sunday was a good idea, one of the islands could not be landed on in the week.

We set off at 9:30 on the 'Glad Tidings IV'. It was a about 30 minutes to the nearest island. I knew that there was going to be lots of birds but my vision was a real underestimate.

We were shown around a number of islands before landing on Staple Island and on the way we were shown a grey seal colony. We stayed on Staple Island for about 2 hours, walking amongst the birds.

We then left Staple Island and sailed off to Inner Farne Island where we stayed for another hour.

Both Islands are National Trust.
