Twilight at the Museum of Technology, Cambridge

19th February, as part of the Twilight at the Museums Events organised by the Cambridge University, we went to the Museum of Technology in Cheddars Lane.

Quote taken from their site

Based in the original sewage pumping station for Cambridge, the Museum of Technology exists to preserve and exhibit material that is relevant to the Cambridge area, either by its use or its invention. Our collections include:
  • The pumping station's original equipment and other engines.
  • A number of products manufactured by W.G. Pye of Cambridge.
  • Letterpress-printing equipment ranging from early hand operated presses to power machinery.
  • Instruments from Cambridge Instrument Company.
  • Information and artefacts from local industries.
Visit LINK for more information and when it is opening.

One fact we found out was that the main working engine will be running at Easter for the last time for a while. It is being taken apart for repair and overhaul.

On a personal note and for those people who have an engineering background - I walked into the pumping station and the smell of grease, oil and 'working machines' was absolutely lovely. They should make a cologne of it!!!!

As we came out there was an opportunity to go into a dark shed and wave LED lights about to make trails. Sue did this. She wrote her name, drew a butterfly and drew a flower .....
